A triathlon pioneer in Quebec, Danny McCann saw the potential of Parc Jean-Drapeau, now recognized as one of the world's top triathlon venues. In 1980, he launched his sporting career and, faced with a lack of local events, founded Triathlon Esprit de Montréal in 1984. In his 40 years at the helm, he has transformed a first edition of 150 participants into an event that attracts over 3,000 athletes every year.

Under Danny's leadership, Esprit Triathlon has flourished and hosted internationally renowned competitions, including the ITU World Championships in 1999, a crucial milestone for Quebec triathlon. Always ready to listen to participants, McCann has instilled a spirit of innovation that has made this race a benchmark, famous for its course and the quality of its organization.

Inducted into the Triathlon Canada Hall of Fame in 2011, Danny McCann is being honoured today for his invaluable contribution to the advancement of triathlon in Quebec. Thank you, Mr. McCann, for your invaluable legacy to the triathlon community.
