What is triathlon?

Swimming, cycling and running

Triathlon is the combination of three of the world’s most popular sports: swimming, cycling and running, over distances that vary according to a number of factors, including the age of the participants.

Participants first swim a set distance in a lake, ocean or pool, then cycle a distance and finish with a run. The time between each event – known as the “transition” – is also counted as part of the race, creating a continuous competition.

A variety of formats: from discovery triathlons to long distances, there are events to suit all levels.

Progressive preparation:structured training builds endurance and improves the transition between disciplines.

A dynamic community: joining a club or taking part in events will enable you to progress in a motivating and friendly environment.

An accessible sport: with basic equipment and good planning, anyone can take up triathlon.

Triathlon distances: a challenge for everyone!

Do you like a challenge? Triathlon offers a variety of distances to suit all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Whether you’re looking for a gentle introduction to the sport, or want to push your limits on a long-distance event, there’s a race for you!
