Triathlon Québec is pleased to confirm its Quebec Elite, U23 and Junior teams for the upcoming season. Despite a 2020 season characterized by almost no competitions, often limited access to facilities, coaches and group training, the athletes showed great resilience in pursuing their preparation.

In addition to provincial championship results, 2019 competitions and 2020 performance tests were considered in the selection process. The composition of the Quebec Development Team, made up mainly of athletes aged 15 to 17, will be announced in the coming days.

One of the priorities of the Équipe du Québec program, particularly for Juniors and U23s, is to prepare athletes to perform to the best of their abilities at individual Canadian Championships and continental races. For the coming season, the events in Montreal and Long Beach in mid-July will be among the targeted races if the context is favourable. Specific tests, training camps and the start of the Grand Prix Series are also on the calendar in the preparation phase.

In the medium term, the program’s objectives are to encourage progression to the higher-level international competition circuit (ETU race, World Cup, U23 World Championships). With a view to qualifying for the Canada Games in 2022, activities and competitions will be planned to develop synergy and competitiveness among the group of athletes eligible for selection.

Selected athletes benefit from a number of advantages, including logistical and financial support for training and competition camps, as well as medical and sports services. What’s more, they will be dressed by our new partner, Bioracer Canada. The clothing worn by the athletes will be available through our online boutique, which will be launched in the coming weeks.
