Conference summary: Training applications have become accessible and used by the entire endurance sports community. We’ll take a look at the various training applications available on the market, presenting their features, advantages and disadvantages. We’ll then focus on the Trainingpeaks platform, which stands out for its planning tools, training load and athlete progress tracking, as well as the different metrics of interest in the application and how to interpret them. This conference is open to amateur athletes and coaches who want to learn more about these tools and training parameters.
Speaker presentation : Alain has over 30 years’ experience in endurance sports and coaching. He builds specific training programs using the principles of overload/compensation, enabling the athlete to be ready for the event in question. His training philosophy is based on respect for the athlete’s goals, while encouraging them to push their personal limits. Since then, he has made his mark in triathlon, working with a number of athletes in both ITU/WTC and Ironman events. In 2017, Alain coached two athletes who qualified for the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, HI.

Conference summary: This conference will focus on the importance of psychology in endurance athletes and how it influences performance, recovery and quality of life. Topics will include types of motivation, mental flexibility and other little-known theories. His experience as a coach and runner, combined with scientific references to back up his words, will inspire and inform all endurance athletes with a thirst for sport, performance and personal success.
Speaker presentation : Maxime is an athletics coach who helps runners achieve their goals from 5 km to Marathon using a method based on science and a good dose of psychology. He is also a psychology researcher and runner (2h19 marathon in 2021).
Conference summary: Following recent concerns in the media about endurance sport and the risk of heart disease, François Lalonde, PhD, proposes a more specific discussion of the link between endurance sport, particularly triathlon, and the risk of developing heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation and flutter. François will provide an overview of recent scientific literature, as well as a personal account of his own experience of this problem as a triathlete-patient. Following the conference, you’ll be able to understand what atrial fibrillation and flutter are, and recognize the risk factors and symptoms.
Speaker’s presentation: François Lalonde is a professional who has developed an innovative approach based on his professional experience and academic background. Over the years, François has developed an expertise in monitoring amateur endurance athletes. With a postdoctorate in exercise physiology at the CRCHUM and UQÀM, a PhD in physical activity sciences at UdeM and a Bsc in kinesiology at UdeM, he has over 15 years’ experience as an amateur athlete. He also holds multiple coaching certifications: NCCP Triathlon Quebec and Canada certified coach, Ironman University certified coach, among others.
