Noémie Beaulieu and Thomas Bilodeau win the sprint on the Champs Élysées in the 5th stage presented by Zizu Optics!

23 February 2021

Sunday saw the fifth and final stage of our virtual race, presented by Zizu Optics. On the program was a 38-kilometer high-speed parade through the streets of Paris on the “Champs-Élysées” course. A stage for sprinters.

After a 4th stage in the high mountains, the Triathlon Québec virtual stage race paid tribute to the arrival of the Tour and its finish in the heart of the City of Light. As usual, the starting line-up included the favorites, with the top three finishers in the overall rankings. A small innovation for the top 8, who, in view of the feedback we’ve received in recent weeks, were asked to use a fixed base exclusively, to have a ZwiftPower account and to provide a heart rate file.

Stage summary

In both the women’s and men’s races, despite a few panache-filled breakaway attempts, the favourites stayed together right up to the final hectometres. As expected, victory on “les Champs” came down to a sprint.
In the women’s race, it was young Rouge et Or athlete Noémie Beaulieu who came out on top, ahead of fellow Team Québec member Marie-Ange Hébert and Bionick athlete Lynda Gingras.
Rouge et Or athletes monopolized the top spots, with men’s victory going to Thomas Bilodeau. He is joined on the podium by young Samaël Fleury-Nadeau and Équipe du Québec athlete Michaël Simard.
Please note that the top 10 ranking differs from the Zwift Companion ranking following video verification by the race marshals.
Also, due to a failure to comply with the regulatory changes mentioned above, Olivier Forest’s result for this event was not counted.
