An exciting 2023 season on the horizon

16 December 2022

The 2023 competition season is already on the horizon, and a host of quality events in Quebec will be on offer to enthusiasts of all stripes. In addition to the Canadian Olympic Distance Championships to be held in Magog and the multisport events at the Esprit de Montréal Triathlon (duathlon, long distance, super sprint), the Quebec Youth, Junior, Age Group and Duathlon Cups will be back with a varied program. International events will also be in the spotlight, with a World Series event, the Arena Games, a Continental Cup and a Paratriathlon World Cup in Montreal!

Quebec Youth and Junior Cup

Athletes in the U13 and U15 categories will have the opportunity to compete in one or more of the seven events on the Coupe Québec Jeunesse program. The four best results will count towards the score, with a bonus awarded at the Quebec championship to be held in Valleyfield. In addition, athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for the provincial finals of the Jeux du Québec, to be held in Rimouski from July 21 to 25. As for junior athletes, they will have five events on which to accumulate points, including two on the Grand Prix Series. For full details, click here.

Quebec Cup Age group

As in 2022, amateur triathletes will be able to collect points in six races: three sprint events without grooving, one sprint event with grooving and two Olympic distance events. Duathletes will have a series of five races, with the best three scores being taken into consideration to establish the final ranking. For full details, click here.

Quebec Championships

! In addition to the usual titles awarded for the youth categories and the sprint and Olympic distances for age-group athletes, titles will be awarded for the first time in 2023 on the supersprint distance at the Laval Triathlon as well as in Cross Triathlon at XTERRA Québec and Gaspésia. A special series and a cross-triathlon circuit will also be announced shortly! To find out more, click here

Quebec will be in the spotlight with the presentation of four events recognized by the International Triathlon Federation. The Arena Games, a formula combining real (swimming in a pool) and virtual (cycling and running on a zwift) in very short formats, will be presented in Montreal on February 25. Montreal will once again host a World Triathlon Series event at the end of June, followed by an elite continental event and a Paratriathlon World Cup on July 8 and 9.

The full calendar of events is available here. Registration for most events will open in mid-January.
