Competition rules

Like all other sports, triathlon is governed by detailed regulations. These rules govern all the stages and elements of a race, and it’s important to know the essentials so you can fully enjoy the pleasures of triathlon.

Triathlon Québec has set up its “Académie du triathlon”, offering free online training courses to help you perfect your knowledge of the regulations.

It is also possible to consult all documents relating to competition regulations, anti-doping rules and the code of conduct.

Application of competition rules

TQ competition rules apply to all Triathlon Québec “Age Group – Adult” partner events, with or without sillonnage. They also apply to the Coupe Québec jeunesse (CQJ) and junior (CQJR) series, the Jeux du Québec (JQ) series and the Grand Prix (GP) series. Competition rules must be applied appropriately by the technical delegate and the designated chief official.

Exclusions

Excluded from the application of these rules are events in the following categories: recreational youth categories U5 to U15, age-group events sanctioned by TC and World Triathlon such as Canadian Championships, World Cups and World Triathlon Series (unless otherwise stated), as well as IRONMAN events.

Anti-doping rules

Sportsmanship and integrity are two very important values for Triathlon Québec.

In keeping with these values, Triathlon Québec is proud to implement its “100% clean” anti-doping program, in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES).
